Grifters Christian Bale & Amy Adams drive this frenetic con game story with Jennifer Lawrence’s kept woman character described as the “Picasso of passive aggressive karate.” Bradley Cooper is also outstanding as a driven FBI agent hoping to make a make the bigs. Jeremy Renner is an enterprising New Jersey mayor who is sucked into the cyclone of greed.
Robert DeNiro’s intimidation has never been more riveting.
It’s a mad, crazy, sad, clever combination of power grabs and money grubbing. Great film.
