For University of Louisville fans and the city that benefits from its revenue and research, today's announcement of an FBI sting involving coaches and multiple recruits was as tough as it gets. UK superman The Beasman didn't miss an opportunity to revel in schadenfreude. The wide ranging probe could involve many more schools. Let's just see where all the overpriced shoes drop.

Every CEO knows that you don’t mess with the profit center
The obvious tension among University of Louisville officials is no secret. Mounting pressures from a myriad of financial, legal, and NCAA entanglements have left the school's leaders singing out of different hymnals. The Courier-Journal's Tim Sullivan projects that VP of athletics Tom Jurich's massive new deal with adidas will break the wall of silence between the administration and the athletics department. Here is my previous blog post referenced in Sullivan's CJ column. What's next? UofL Foundation Chairman David Grissom won't say whether he has asked interim President Dr. Greg Postel to fire head basketball coach Rick Pitino for a "fresh start" following the NCAA scandal. Lots of sources say that's exactly what happened in July around the time of the new Yum Center
Rick Pitino halftime hilarity – Who knows what’s next?
University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and I had a ton of fun with his TV show during his first 12 years in Louisville. The contract eventually went to a different TV station and we lost our weekly silliness. Here's a typical show. It originally aired on December 20, 2008. The final segment (at approx 21 minutes in) shows a montage of the goofball halftime interviews we would do for laughs. Once I launched my second question, I had no idea what Pitino would say to break my shoes. ESPN Sportscenter eventually picked it up one night. Pitino saw it and texted: "Our act finally made it to national TV." Mission accomplished. Coach P
Dr. Greg Postel: man of few published words
by Terry Meiners Should a man with a skimpy resume serve as the next president of the University of Louisville? Dr. Greg Postel is UofL’s interim president and is working hard to make it his official title. The university’s board of trustees will ultimately decide if Dr. Postel, a radiologist, has a presidential level body of work. People seem to like his administrative direction and I’m told he’s got people skills but what about his paperwork? Dr. Postel’s list of published manuscripts is on the thin side when compared to other academicians like former Presidents Dr. James Ramsey, Dr. Neville Pinto, and Dr. Postel’s former UofL boss Dr. David Dunn. After 23 years at UofL, Postel cites just 19 published
AUDIO: Rick Pitino on his new team, emotional reaction to NCAA sanctions, Andre McGee, more
On my WHAS Radio show, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino talked about his talent for the upcoming basketball season. He also updates his emotional state after the NCAA sanctions were announced, the appeal strategy, Andre McGee's poor decision making, and Pitino's view of what's ahead. CLASSIC 2009 VIDEO
Rick Pitino on what he knew, the impact of strippergate, and believing the appeal will “get it right”
Here's a candid update letter from Rick Pitino to members of Friends of the Ville, a philanthropy group managed by the university. Pitino has assembled similar booster groups while coaching at Kentucky, and Boston. I've served on the board of DPF (Daniel Pitino Foundation) for about 15 years. My best guess is that more than $10 million has been raised since the 90s, with most of the money going to the Daniel Pitino Foundation to serve children's charities. DPF was founded to honor the memory of Joanne & Rick Pitino's son who died in his first year of life. Here is Coach Pitino's letter to our group: “Friends of the Ville” LOUISVILLE BASKETBALL June 21, 2017 Dear Friends of the Ville I am writing

Rick Pitino on the surprise addition of Brian Bowen, new team chemistry, and NBA Finals
University of Louisville basketball got a magnificent upgrade with a surprise commitment from 5-star forward Brian Bowen. Coach Rick Pitino admitted it was a great stroke of luck and upgrades his newly enforced team as "possibly a 10," making a lofty reference to his 1996 Kentucky Wildcats talent pool. Here's our radio chat on Bowen's talent, Pitino's projection on the next UofL team's upgraded chemistry, the Pitino geezer basketball team for next year, whether LeBron is overmatched in the NBA Finals, and more.
Rick Pitino: “It’s not the NCAA that we answer to in life…We all answer to the God we believe in”
