Rick Pitino on UK, Coach Cal, Cat fans in Yum, comparison to ’96, and whether to continue the rivalry
University of Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino didn't have much to say following his team's latest loss to arch-rival Kentucky, the seventh loss out of eight games since John Calipari arrived in Lexington. He needed a day to decompress and then we chatted about the game on 840WHAS Radio on Monday, December 29. Pitino didn't shy away from talking about Coach Cal, UK's potential, abundant UK fans in the KFC Yum Center, and much more. AUDIO from WHAS Radio TRANSCRIPT Pitino enjoys life away from basketball during the few weeks a year that he's not working but he has no plans to walk away from the game he cherishes. He loves his Louisville Cardinals and still honors his Kentucky coaching years with
Jennifer Lawrence & The Lawrence family: a solid bond
Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native who is Hollywood's top box office draw, was home for the Christmas holidays. She visited Kosair Children's Hospital, lent a hand at Wayside Christian Mission, and cheered for her UofL Cardinals at the KFC Yum Center. Oddly enough, I wound up delivering several outfits to the movie star at the arena when she arrived with her family. The Lawrence family is adored locally for operating Camp Hi Ho, a summer day camp for kids. Jennifer's mom and dad got a big kick out of watching me pretend to be fashion judge as the star decided on which Louisville garb to wear to the arena. MORE PHOTOS HERE EN ESPANOL
Another Louisville quarterback rises at the right moment
University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino once again showed his strength in developing quarterbacks when seldom used Kyle Bolin was thrown into the intrastate rivalry game with the University of Kentucky. Mr. Afterthought scrambled to find his helmet, then calmly completed 21 of 31 passes for 381 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also threw a pick 6 and fumbled to give UK another defensive touchdown. Once victory was assured for the Cardinals, Lexington native Kyle Bolin became the toast of Louisville. Down 13-0, Petrino sent Bolin onto the field with an empty backfield, showing UK that the new kid was going to throw. Two plays, two completions, the second one for a 45 yard touchdown strike to DeVante Parker. Louisville would go

He appeared on WHAS-TV's "Great Day Live" and on WHAS Radio and other Clear Channel stations. It’s always basketball season in Kentucky
Securing the 2013 NCAA Championship for Louisville occurred late in the first half when Luke Hancock popped four 3-pointers and Montrezl Harrell slammed a monster dunk to take the lead and the momentum. On April 14, 2014, both Harrell and Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein announced that they would return to their respective schools to play another college basketball season. Rejoicing could be heard across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, where UK's marvelous 2014 campaign ended with a disappointing loss to UConn. With the returns of Harrell and Cauley-Stein, hope springs eternal. For the most ardent fans, lessons are learned.
