Darrell "Doctor Dunkenstein" Griffith popped into the radio station to throw love at new University of Louisville basketball coach Chris Mack. Griff says Mack's style offers players more creativity to improvise, a definite change from Rick Pitino's more deliberate style. Griffith also talked about the tedious tasks ahead for UofL football coach Scott Satterfield, the amazing artistry of Donovan Mitchell, and the cushy life of Utah Jazz players compared to his era. Salt Lake City's growth since Griffith's playing days amaze the former Jazz star. He says Louisville would prosper immeasurably by snaring an NBA franchise, a campaign impeded by Pitino and former UofL athletics director Tom Jurich. Darrell also talked about his new restaurant Griff's, now open at 2nd and Liberty

1st world problem: my free seats aren’t good enough
A few days before the University of Louisville football team opened its 2018 season with a nationally televised battle against #1 Alabama, an unnecessary upheaval derailed the focus from football. The son of former athletics director Tom Jurich attacked the new athletics director over a future seating matter that should have been handled by whomever negotiated the the elder Jurich's severance package. Mark Jurich sent a scathing email debasing his former close friend Vince Tyra, the new athletics director who replaced Mark's dad Tom Jurich. The email, printed below, is filled with vicious personal attacks all wrapped around the notion of "disrespect" shown to Tyra's predecessor. Tom Jurich and his loyal son Mark both believe that Tyra "schemed for over a
The very bad week of Papa John Schnatter
The founder of Papa John’s pizza company admitted using the N-word during a recent media training exercise. The slur was reported on Forbes.com and “Papa John” Schnatter was quickly removed as chairman of the Louisville-based company. The University of Louisville then removed Schnatter from its board of trustees, scrubbed his name from the business school, and Papa John’s pizza no longer retains naming rights to the Louisville football stadium. Papa John’s immediately bleached Schnatter’s image from all of its marketing materials. Ousted Papa John’s founder’s defense. Larry & Terry: just shooting the breeze
Bisig Impact Group co-owner Larry Bisig invited me to his advertising/marketing company for a chat on camera. Cool. We talked about my radio history, growing up with discipline, the last days of Ron Clay, my evolving tolerance, how to interview big ego people, dealing with violent students, and drunk college buddies trying to ruin my job. Good talk, L Man. Thanks for having me.
WAVERING STANDARDS: If it’s in the dick-tionary, it must be OK (or is it spelled okay)
When I asked Courier Journal management about scrubbing a 2014 parody of John Calipari from its website, I was told that the image didn't meet the newspaper's "standards." This piece ran last week in the standards conscious Courier. This week the Cussin' Courier throws feces at its readers - wiping it from the headline - but dropping it into the report on UK Coach John Calipari's scatalogical jab. Read the thread below for background on the Courier Journal defense of apologizing to Coach Calipari and removing an image from its web site. Salty Joe Gerth, a UK fan, says the September 2014 image is still available. The subject of MY tweet was in response to Tim Sullivan's CJ column shining light on Tom

Andy Beshear on Louisville murder rate, JCPS cops, Bevin intervention at UofL, more
AUDIO ? Ky. Attorney General Andy Besmear appeared on WHAS Radio with me to talk about Louisville's murder rate, anonymity for young felons, cops in JCPS schools, Gov. Matt Bevin involvement with the UofL board firing Tom Jurich, the Western Union settlement, and more #kypolitics
Gov. Matt Bevin on UofL without Jurich, gambling, drinking, and being alone with a woman
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin joined me on 840WHAS for a wide-ranging interview on: expanded gambling to bolster pensions, sexual harassment among Kentucky legislators, being alone with a woman, was his UofL board of trustees correct in firing Tom Jurich, a potential LouCity FC stadium, Kentucky outpacing Indiana, tax perks, imbibing, and would he consider being a running mate to Mike Pence in 2020.
Tom Jurich on his firing, Pitino, Mark Jurich, UofL’s future + could Bowen clearance assist Jurich & Pitino?
Former University of Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich visited my radio show to talk about his firing, the callous termination letter, UofL's financial stability, FBI investigation, NCAA appeal, supervision of Rick Pitino, Mark Jurich's career, adidas contract, and more. Following our interview, news broke that the FBI and U.S. Attorney's office released "investigative impediments" on Brian Bowen, setting up a potential return to the UofL basketball team. The university would have to conduct its own investigation to clear Bowen, but if the FBI can't see a path where the player was aware of his father getting money from adidas, it is hard to imagine that UofL's investigation could drill down further than federal authorities. If Bowen is reinstated, it
