There is no shortage of public discourse about biased media. I've spent 40+ years in media with hundreds of colleagues in radio, TV, and print. Media is absolutely staffed with at least 85% liberal leaning people. That's not a slam, just a fact. When liberals are asked about this imbalance, they immediately reply "FOX NEWS!" OK, yes. Fox News, Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh, and a host of smaller conservative outlets still only make up that one piece of pumpkin pie seen above. The rest of the pie represents the liberal influence in the delivery of news products. Journalism instructors are supposed to teach critical thinking and discipline for objectivity but human behavior ultimately prevails in everything we do. Former CBS

BOMBSHELL DUD! when American media allows Buzzfeed to lead the news, well, the media looks stupid and partisan
Every morning, NBC's TODAY Show starts with some sort of breathless, hysteria-driven BOMBSHELL news story on Trump. It's so predictable that the Boy Who Cried Wolf would advise "yeah, you may want to get that verified, nitwits." So now we are letting BUZZFEED (the web home of fart jokes and quizzes about naming genitals) lead the news on traditional media outlets? Our media industry looks ridiculous. But, we are about to TAKE DOWN TRUMP so any port in a storm. Buzzfeed = The New York Times if it is negative about Trump. Let's run with it as the lead story!!!!! “One TX Democrat now says if this explosive new report is true, Pres. Trump must either resign or be impeached.”@halliejackson has
Let’s have a Happy News Year, media peeps
Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, much of the news media universe has pounded him. And he hates them back. He brings it on himself. Trump is rude, arrogant, thoughtless, narcissistic, and ill-tempered. He uses Twitter to insult political enemies and even some private citizens with whom he disagrees. Certain media people are rude, arrogant, thoughtless, narcissistic, and ill-tempered. But they're not the president. That's the difference. Trump's war with media has been his biggest conundrum and an odd victory for his supporters. With the President of the United States constantly declaring any criticism as "fake news," it has weakened the overall perception of the media business even if it has bolstered the subscription rates and TV ratings of

Mitch McConnell dropped by to chat, Trump had a contrary view on border wall funding and government shutdown options
They're throwing shade at Mitch McConnell from all over the political map. Trump needs to fire Mitch's wife. https://t.co/2rl6cIeCCb— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) July 30, 2018 Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell dropped by my radio studio on Friday to talk about a myriad of subjects. We talked about Wednesday's meeting between the President, Sen. McConnell, and House Speaker Paul Ryan, where it was understood that compromises were made to expedite the passage of spending bills, including the notion of delaying funding for Trump's border wall. I asked Senator McConnell if there was a looming government shutdown ahead of the November midterm elections. "That's not going to happen," he snapped back. Not long thereafter, President Donald Trump weighed in with a differing view

Matt Lauer terminated at NBC News for sexual misconduct in the workplace
Matt Lauer has been terminated from NBC News. On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment. pic.twitter.com/1A3UAZpvPb— TODAY (@TODAYshow) November 29, 2017 NBC News abruptly terminated Matt Lauer for inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. Lauer, the primary anchor of the network's signature show TODAY, moved from the news desk in 1997 to replace anchor Bryant Gumbel. As the day played out, more women told their own stories of abuse and discomfort in dealing with Lauer. Rival ABC News challenged statements by NBC execs claiming they didn't know anything about Lauer's workplace misdeeds. Some former NBC employees say

Angela Leet launches mayoral campaign, rips Fischer, says she did not vote for Trump
Metro Louisville council member Angela Leet is running for Louisville mayor. We spoke on the radio shortly after her announcement, covering topics from Greg Fischer's current body of work, murderous 20-year-olds, city infrastructure, prayer patrols, LGBTQ rights, bike lanes, Dan Johnson's future, and rising Yum Center debt. AUDIO: This nugget helps Leet avoid the type of derision faced by Sec. of State Alison Grimes, who laughingly avoided answering the CJ's question of whether she had voted for Barack Obama. When asked directly, @CWAngelaLeet told @terrymeiners that she didn't vote for #Trump. “I won’t attack people on Twitter."cc: @AlisonForKY— Phillip M. Bailey (@phillipmbailey) October 4, 2017
POST NO BILLS: Gov. Matt Bevin vs. The Media
Can we begin by reminding everyone that "the media" is a vast universe of unconnected voices who report, commentate, and disseminate news items? It's true that major media pretends to deliver impartial, objective news but whenever humans are involved, so are their personal views. There is clearly some sort of slant with all human communication. That's why it's so easy to find a comfortable housecoat of your views reflected back onto you from any one of a zillion media outlets. A recent Courier-Journal search of voter registration records for various local luminaries included my information: CJ writer Andy Wolfson notes that "social scientists say (party registration) is a lens that affects how a person perceives the world." In my case, it
