Only a temporary bridge above the mudslinging
High above the muddy banks of the Ohio River, politicians were slinging nothing but niceties toward their rivals on the eve of Kentucky's gubernatorial transition. Here's a shiny new bridge, so let's all take credit. Outgoing Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear, a democrat whose signature accomplishment is the kynect health care exchange, was sharing a stage with his successor Matt Bevin, the republican whose top priority is to immediately dismantle kynect. Gov-elect Matt Bevin was presented with ribbon cutting scissors by Beshear to use next year in dedicating the east end bridge with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, another political polar opposite to Beshear. Bevin deferred to Beshear at the podium and did not speak publicly, but was seen chatting and posing

FULL TRANSCRIPT OF PITINO REMARKS via Courier-Journal My October 8 radio conversation with Coach Pitino came up in his address to the crowd. ------ From WDRB.com - Pitino said that he was not angry at WHAS radio personality Terry Meiners, who began an interview last week by asking Pitino if he had plans to resign. “Some people thought he blindsided me,” Pitino said. “He probably did … The person who blindsided me is my friend … his job is not to build me up in that moment, his job is get
My Rick Pitino interview on UofL’s prostitution scandal; fans react to media spotlight
INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino is under fire for alleged scandalous behavior between players, recruits, and their adult guardians with prostitutes. Prostitute/madam Katina Powell claims she brought multiple prostitutes into UofL's Minardi Hall at the request of former director of basketball operations Andre McGee. The salacious story is told in Powell's book "Breaking Cardinal Rules." Hours before the radio interview, University of Louisville president James Ramsey issued a statement praising athletics director Tom Jurich without one word of support for Coach Pitino. Also, CBS Sports quoted an unnamed source saying that Ohio State freshman JaQuan Lyle, a former Louisville recruit, acknowledged to the NCAA "the gist" of allegations of paid escorts. Pitino had no idea any of this nonsense was

Another Crusade miracle
The 62nd annual WHAS Crusade for Children brought in $5.6 million for special needs children throughout Kentucky and Indiana. More than half of the funds are raised through firefighter roadblocks, a tradition started in the 1950s. To date, more than $165 million has been raised to buy equipment and to fund programs to assist special needs children. The weekend radio/TV broadcast is hosted by iHeartMedia's WHAS Radio and Gannett's WHAS-11 television, Crusade partners since the fundraiser's launch in 1954. The Crusade for Children thrives on family support. It is an honor to work with my son Max, a director at WHAS-11, on every Crusade. This telethon improves lives and that is a joyous experience best shared with family.

Rick Pitino on UK, Coach Cal, Cat fans in Yum, comparison to ’96, and whether to continue the rivalry
University of Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino didn't have much to say following his team's latest loss to arch-rival Kentucky, the seventh loss out of eight games since John Calipari arrived in Lexington. He needed a day to decompress and then we chatted about the game on 840WHAS Radio on Monday, December 29.
