🤣🤣🤣 @CBSNews tweets a 2014 photo of a voter deriding @senatemajldr McConnell and claims that it happened today in Louisville. #verify #factsmatter https://t.co/aFOG3jt7No— Terry Meiners (@terrymeiners) November 7, 2018 The twitter administrator for CBS News was duped by a 2014 photo of a voter named Joe Conroy giving a THUMB DOWN signal behind Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at their polling place. CBS reported that it happened today, November 6, 2018. And that's the way it wasn't. The Courier-Journal reported on the quirky moment on a day that Mitch McConnell trounced Alison Lundergan Grimes to roll into his sixth term as a U.S. Senator from Kentucky. Mitch McConnell dropped by to chat, Trump had a contrary view on border wall funding and government shutdown options
They're throwing shade at Mitch McConnell from all over the political map. Trump needs to fire Mitch's wife. https://t.co/2rl6cIeCCb— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) July 30, 2018 Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell dropped by my radio studio on Friday to talk about a myriad of subjects. We talked about Wednesday's meeting between the President, Sen. McConnell, and House Speaker Paul Ryan, where it was understood that compromises were made to expedite the passage of spending bills, including the notion of delaying funding for Trump's border wall. I asked Senator McConnell if there was a looming government shutdown ahead of the November midterm elections. "That's not going to happen," he snapped back. Not long thereafter, President Donald Trump weighed in with a differing view
Larry & Terry: just shooting the breeze
Bisig Impact Group co-owner Larry Bisig invited me to his advertising/marketing company for a chat on camera. Cool. We talked about my radio history, growing up with discipline, the last days of Ron Clay, my evolving tolerance, how to interview big ego people, dealing with violent students, and drunk college buddies trying to ruin my job. Good talk, L Man. Thanks for having me.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell talks tax cuts & jobs act, drain the swamp, Blue vs Red states, charitable donations, more
? Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell joined me on 840WHAS to talk the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, Berea College's conundrum, Bernie Sanders, sunsets on middle class rates, Blue vs Red states, GOP squabbling, drain the swamp, ending Obamacare mandate, charitable donations, sports seat licenses (which are no longer deductible starting in 2018), more #USpolitics #KYpolitics ? Senator McConnell said he did not know about the tax bill's effect on claiming deductions for university sports PSL (personal seat licenses). My CPA was listening and texted the bad news for universities counting on robust sales of PSL opportunities. "Per my info, 80% deduction for amount paid for right to buy season tickets will go away in 2018. 2017 will
Gov. Matt Bevin on UofL without Jurich, gambling, drinking, and being alone with a woman
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin joined me on 840WHAS for a wide-ranging interview on: expanded gambling to bolster pensions, sexual harassment among Kentucky legislators, being alone with a woman, was his UofL board of trustees correct in firing Tom Jurich, a potential LouCity FC stadium, Kentucky outpacing Indiana, tax perks, imbibing, and would he consider being a running mate to Mike Pence in 2020.
Fort Knox guards are the real golden state warriors
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin texted that he was nearby and wanted to tell me something. It turned out that he was still buzzing from just visiting the gold depository at Fort Knox and wanted to tell my radio audience about it. Bevin, invited by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnunchin, is the only governor to ever visit the gold depository. President Franklin D. Roosevelt is the only commander in chief to visit the vault and Mnuchin only the third treasury boss to personally inspect America's safety deposit box. Bevin gave the WHAS Radio audience a fairly comprehensive accounting of the vault's contents, last opened for inspection in 1974. LISTEN HERE: Bevin had already had a pretty
McConnell confirms his intention to use the nuclear option to confirm SCOTUS nominee Neil Grouch
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirms that he is prepared to use the so-called nuclear option, changing traditional rules of the Senate to allow for a simple majority vote to confirm U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch. In a WHAS radio interview with me, McConnell noted that the longstanding tradition of requiring a supermajority of 60 aye votes was overrun in 2013 by then-majority leader Sen. Harry Reid. Democrats point out that Reid's use of the nuclear option was to advance lower court appointments, not Supreme Court nominees. Here is the entire WHAS interview, which also covers whether superpowers should intervene following Syrian chemical attacks, if GOP in-fighting will wither 2018 election hopes, health care upgrades, tax reform, and
Roast With the Most
Thanks to my media buddies, we were able to raise over $100,000 for Seven Counties Services in a "Roast & Toast" on March 3, 2016. Also contributing were Denny Crum, Dawne Gee, Dean Corbett, John Boel, Mitch McConnell, John Yarmuth, and Dick Vitale.
Jennifer Lawrence & The Lawrence family: a solid bond
Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native who is Hollywood's top box office draw, was home for the Christmas holidays. She visited Kosair Children's Hospital, lent a hand at Wayside Christian Mission, and cheered for her UofL Cardinals at the KFC Yum Center. Oddly enough, I wound up delivering several outfits to the movie star at the arena when she arrived with her family. The Lawrence family is adored locally for operating Camp Hi Ho, a summer day camp for kids. Jennifer's mom and dad got a big kick out of watching me pretend to be fashion judge as the star decided on which Louisville garb to wear to the arena. MORE PHOTOS HERE EN ESPANOL
