The joy quotient in the Commonwealth of Kentucky shoots through the ceiling every November when basketball season begins. It's a religion in the state. Other states celebrate Rhodes scholars changing the world. We celebrate sweaty teenagers who can dunk a ball or sprint with a pigskin. That's just who we are. >>>>>>>>>RADIO SCRIPT>>>>>>>>> THE BEASMAN tipoff luncheon air date 10-28-16 WELL, THERE’S YOUR GAY BOYFRIEND SLICK RICK OUT THERE TO THE TIPOFF LUNCHEON TELLING HIS LIES AGAIN. “OHHH. After 40 years of broadcasting, I’m too lazy to quit now

Oh Nole you didn’t!
The University of Louisville Cardinals football team blasted #2 ranked Florida State in one of Louisville's biggest victories ever. It will move the #10 Cardinals closer to the top of the rankings and solidifies its presence as an ACC football power. The new AP Poll bounced Louisville up to #3 behind Alabama and Ohio State. Watch the entire game in 25 minutes (two videos). Now Louisville is part of the national championship playoff conversation. Special helmet stickers honored Louisville's beloved son Muhammad Ali, who passed away in June. Our family was in Cardinal heaven. UofL dominated the entire game. ESPN's College GameDay show originated from the game. Students lined up starting at 4 am for the nine o'clock show. It
Louisville’s most recent PGA Championship – Rory Glory
During this week's early PGA Championship (pushed ahead because of the Olympics), it's fun to reflect on Valhalla's most recent major from 2014. I was privileged to be included in the CBS preview show. Rory, Phil, Ricky all raced daylight and drama trying to collect the PGA Championship trophy in Louisville. Rory prevailed. Phil Mickelson had better days at Valhalla, including being part of America's last victory in the Ryder Cup in 2008.

EXCLUSIVE: Home video of Cassius Clay and his family from the early 60s shows soon-to-be Muhammad Ali at the new Clay home in Louisville's Newburg neighborhood, the champ thwarting his mother's attempt to put a crown on his head, playful banter in Miami and Lewiston, Maine prior to both of the Sonny Liston fights. The videos were provided by the family of Muhammad Ali's first attorney, the late Henry Sadlo Sr. The image below shows a rare dual autograph as both Muhammad Ali and Cassius Clay, signed to Mr. Sadlo in 1994. The inscription reads "We both fooled Cosell." BONUS VIDEO: Ali in 1968, advocating segregation, awaiting prison, $280,000 in debt, severing ties with his Louisville syndicate, shocked by a
The ups of the Downs: another stunning Kentucky Derby
Nyquist captured the 142nd Kentucky Derby on a splendid day in Louisville. After Nyquist won the Florida Derby, O'Neill opted to send his undefeated horse to Lexington to prep for the Derby instead of flying him back to California. Nyquist had great runs at Keeneland and shipped over to Louisville less than a week before he would capture the roses at the Derby. Now it's on to Baltimore for the Preakness Stakes on May 21st. Beauty overwhelms Churchill Downs throughout Derby week. Actress Mira Sorvino told me that she felt "as though I've stepped into a completely elegant era from long ago." Not everyone behaved at Churchill Downs. Drunk teens in preppy clothes tend to lose their minds in the
Cards shine in the final flurry before March Sadness
With no postseason ahead, the Louisville Cardinals have to dominate the end of their regular season. Duke came to town. Louisville roared back in the second half to win by 7. With no March Madness, this is February Gladness.

A loving eulogy for my parents
My mother passed away 10 years ago and my father died two years later. My brother Chris found the eulogy I wrote and delivered at my father's funeral in February 2008. I have very little memory of writing or delivering it, proving that the heart and brain can push past fear, sadness, and severe emotional trauma. ----------------- THE EULOGY Mel Meiners funeral, February 18, 2008 This very room is the epicenter of Mel & Norma Meiners’ legacy. The Roman Catholic Church was the guiding light in every Meiners moment. Mom & Dad met through church activities at St. Elizabeth. They raised their children across the street from this church property. Both passed away at the sacred Nazareth Home, just
The View from America: ho no you don’t
As Louisville's scandal queen Katina Powell was on ABC's "The View," one of the show hosts took to Twitter. Watching @TheView a female escort justify why she brought her daughters around a basketball team while she was having sex. WHAT! #shame— Sherri Shepherd (@SherriEShepherd) October 23, 2015 This female escort w her daughters on @TheView is making not one iota of sense - she is writing a book for money #goodgrief— Sherri Shepherd (@SherriEShepherd) October 23, 2015 The fans chimed in, too. Absolutely disgusted.#KatrinaPowell @TheView Are they that desperate? Well folks, today there are proud whores on #TheView
