With Steve Beshear out of office and Gov. Matt Bevin's administration overshadowing all things Frankfort, Ky. Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo has lost his mind. On election night, he railed about religion, Mary & Joseph, and Hillary riding a horse (or donkey) into Kentucky to save the Democrats. Now Stumbo is angry that the Bevin administration has courted a few Democrats to switch sides, maneuvers that the speaker says are illicit. What he is forgetting to mention are multiple examples of the Beshear administration doing the same thing in reverse, including clearing a path for Stumbo himself to work his way back into the legislature. I enjoyed reminding Stumbo of his hypocrisy on my radio show. Part 2 Famous gay basher Kim Davis,

The Pope is dope again, the truth shall set you free
After show pony lawyer Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel began crowing that his client Kim Davis had a private audience with Pope Francis, skepticism ensued. The Southern Poverty Law Center now lists Staver's firm as a hate group. Davis is the Rowan County clerk who refuses to acknowledge the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing for same sex marriage. Her supporters say that the media is needlessly bashing her by prolonging the story. Every day brings a new chapter. Davis told ABC News “Just knowing the pope is on track with what we’re doing and agreeing, you know, kind of validates everything.” But there was no agreement or validation. An official Vatican statement clarified that Davis was one of dozens invited by the Vatican
Harping harping harping
Kim Davis is no pioneer in mixing bigotry and government. People have used Bible quotes throughout history to advance their bigotry du jour. In 2012, North Carolina pastor Charles Worley proposed putting gays and lesbians behind electrified fences "to die out." CNN's Anderson Cooper interviewed a member of Worley's flock to explain to her that concentration camps are no longer in vogue. Worley's original sermon may have violated federal laws when he spoke of voting strategies based on whether any politician advocates for gay rights. He has a history of outrageous gay bashing from the pulpit.

WITH LIBERTY & JUSTICE OVERALL twitter giggles here It appears that the Kim Davis saga of refusing government service to select citizens is not yet over. Her deputy clerk is issuing marriage licenses in Rowan County while Davis' attorney says his client "will not violate her conscience" when she returns to work soon. Oh, and her lawyer is learning that he can't steal other people's music for his rallies. A comment in the New York Times: If your religious faith is paramount then do not swear oaths to secular authorities. -- (anon Corrales, NM) Politician Mike Huckabee swooped into Kentucky to curry favor with Christians, holding Kim Davis' hand as she emerged from jail as another presidential hopeful Ted Cruz

Public servants on strike; God still working as a misleading cause celebre
Sarah Palin is not on strike but perhaps on hiatus. Her cordial relationship with Donald Trump generates speculation that she could find a spot in his cabinet. And that sends media wags into overdrive hoping to demean her at any turn. To wit: Yahoo news plucked a phrase taken out of context and headlined it as an example of Palin's idiocy. Watch the video and decide if Yahoo is hammering a knat. The Donald, meanwhile, continues to lead in the polls but hasn't taken the historically inaccurate stance that county clerk Kim Davis is a martyred example of the "criminalization of Christianity. Kentucky Kim has gone prime time
History has taught (some of) us that mixing religion and state does not work. "The sooner Kentuckians learn that lesson, the better." - columnist Tom Eblen in the Lexington Herald Leader As resistance to gay marriage roils Kentuckians, here is more historical wisdom from Courier-Journal columnist Joe Gerth and political perspective from Al Cross For once, the spotlight isn't on a Kim named Kardashian. Err...Kentucky offers the world Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk who refuses to issue marriage licenses to LGBT in spite of the Supreme Court ruling allowing for gay marriage. Now she's in jail. Kim doesn't understand American history as Thomas Jefferson wrote of the wall of separation of church and state. Now that licenses are being offered in
