Every morning, NBC's TODAY Show starts with some sort of breathless, hysteria-driven BOMBSHELL news story on Trump. It's so predictable that the Boy Who Cried Wolf would advise "yeah, you may want to get that verified, nitwits." So now we are letting BUZZFEED (the web home of fart jokes and quizzes about naming genitals) lead the news on traditional media outlets? Our media industry looks ridiculous. But, we are about to TAKE DOWN TRUMP so any port in a storm. Buzzfeed = The New York Times if it is negative about Trump. Let's run with it as the lead story!!!!! โOne TX Democrat now says if this explosive new report is true, Pres. Trump must either resign or be impeached.โ@halliejackson has

“You bet I’m running” – Gov. Matt Bevin tees up his re-election battle with Andy Beshear, et al
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin finally burst the bubble by declaring that he will indeed run for reelection. I've asked him more than 10 times in radio interviews if he would re-up to solidify Republican party plans for 2019. His response was that he would not let "the people across the aisle" dictate his schedule. At last night's Lincoln Dinner in Lexington, the news spilled across all of the aisles. Governor Bevin wants to stay in office for a second term. "Buckle up, because the next five years are going to be something to watch." At the @KYGOP Lincoln Dinner in Lexington, @GovMattBevin announced his intention to run for re-election in 2019. pic.twitter.com/zqnjGGEufk— Garrett Wymer (@GarrettWKYT) August 26, 2018 There's
Rep. John Yarmuth on DACA, whether Sen Schumer caved, and replying to Gov. Bevin’s claim that he’s “whining” about the Medicaid waiver
U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth popped onto the radio today to explain why the Democrats caved in on the government shutdown stalemate. We talked about Sen. Chuck Schumer's strategy, the DACA negotiations, funding the U.S. military vs funding The Dreamers, and Yarmuth replied to Gov. Matt Bevin's contention that he is "whining" about the new Medicaid waiver allowing the government to demand that able-bodied recipients either work, get job training, or provide community service. The photo above is a rare capture of Yarmuth and Bevin appearing side-by-side. We'll not have any of that bipartisanship, gentlemen. Back to your corners.
Larry & Terry: just shooting the breeze
Bisig Impact Group co-owner Larry Bisig invited me to his advertising/marketing company for a chat on camera. Cool. We talked about my radio history, growing up with discipline, the last days of Ron Clay, my evolving tolerance, how to interview big ego people, dealing with violent students, and drunk college buddies trying to ruin my job. Good talk, L Man. Thanks for having me.
John Yarmuth on NoKo missile, sexual harassment, Cokie Roberts dereliction of duty, tax reform, and his troubled friend John Conyers
AUDIO ? Rep.John Yarmuth appeared on WHAS Radio with me to talk about today's North Korea missile launch, plus...Should predatory Democrat Rep. John Conyers resign? Is it dereliction of media duty by Cokie Roberts hiding Conyers' deviance? We also discussed the various Republican tax reform plans, Trump diplomacy, & more #kypolitics
Two-fer Tuesday: political ping pong
My radio show today featured back-to-back interviews with political opposites Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and U.S. Representative John Yarmuth (Ky-3). Here's the governor talking about potential expansion of Toyota's manufacturing presence, his victory in the PVA assessment of his home, misdirected media, pension pressure, and tax changes to retain wealth. As for the possibility of facing Attorney General Andy Beshear in the 2019 gubernatorial race: "To me that would be fantastic. He is not even competent as an attorney general." AUDIO Congressman Yarmuth talked about North Korea's nuclear threats toward the U.S., President Trump's reply that America would bring "fire and fury never before seen in the world," congressional health care camaraderie, and whether VP Mike Pence is sincere in claiming that he
The Pols Are Open
Greg Fischer, John Yarmuth, and Matt Bevin were on my radio show back-to-back-to-back today. The mayor and congressmen, both Democrats, discussed a variety of issues. The Republican governor had a significantly different strategy to solve societal problems. AUDIO: Governor Matt Bevin on attacking the pension shortfall, bourbon tariffs, the Mike Pence visit, universal health care, handling haters on Twitter, and imitating Rambo at the Kentucky Speedway. Now here is Rep. John Yarmuth on the Donald Trump Jr email chain with a Russian lawyer, Obamacare, media pursuit of Russia election interference, and renewed Democrat interest in universal health care. Finally, here's Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer on his six point plan to reduce violence.
Bill Stokes, my brother from another mother
William Albert "Bill" Stokes died last week. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Seven years ago, he taught me one of the most enlightening, compassionate lessons of my life at a moment when I was way out of my comfort zone. The day after he and I co-hosted a mostly improvisational show in front of an African American audience, I wrote this blog post. It was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. ----------------- BACK IN BLACK I have always had an affinity for African American people. Their music always moved me more than the bland songs sung by white performers. Their distinctly different clothing choices made me want to be colorful like them instead of rigid and uniform
McConnell confirms his intention to use the nuclear option to confirm SCOTUS nominee Neil Grouch
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirms that he is prepared to use the so-called nuclear option, changing traditional rules of the Senate to allow for a simple majority vote to confirm U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch. In a WHAS radio interview with me, McConnell noted that the longstanding tradition of requiring a supermajority of 60 aye votes was overrun in 2013 by then-majority leader Sen. Harry Reid. Democrats point out that Reid's use of the nuclear option was to advance lower court appointments, not Supreme Court nominees. Here is the entire WHAS interview, which also covers whether superpowers should intervene following Syrian chemical attacks, if GOP in-fighting will wither 2018 election hopes, health care upgrades, tax reform, and
Roast With the Most
Thanks to my media buddies, we were able to raise over $100,000 for Seven Counties Services in a "Roast & Toast" on March 3, 2016. Also contributing were Denny Crum, Dawne Gee, Dean Corbett, John Boel, Mitch McConnell, John Yarmuth, and Dick Vitale.
