Chris Rock crushed it in his #Oscars monologue. Here's a synopsis from the Washington Post: Chris Rock kicked off his monologue with this: “Man, I counted at least 15 black people in that montage!… Other lines: Rock says he didn’t think it was worth it to cancel since the show would go on regardless. “Last thing I need is to lose another job to Kevin Hart. I don’t need that.” (Cue Kevin Hart smiling in the audience.)… “When your grandmother’s swinging from the tree, it’s really hard to care about best documentary foreign short.”… “It’s not fair that Will Smith was this good [in ‘Concussion’] and didn’t get nominated. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for ‘Wild Wild West!’”… “This year, in

May the Oscars be ever in your favor
As the final Hunger Games film hits theaters, Jennifer Lawrence is rocketing forward with multiple major films ahead. I suspect that her next Academy Award nomination will come from the Steven Spielberg film where Jen plays kidnapped war photographer Lynsey Addario. That film, based on Addario's book "I Do What I Do," is tentatively set to launch production in 2016. That video is still hilarious and sad. It's hilarious to see Louisville's Jennifer Lawrence handle odd moments with grace and humor. And it's sad to see then 75-year-old Jack Nicholson hitting on a then 22-year-old in front of network TV cameras.
A banner day for the Lawrence family
Congratulations to the Lawrence family, Louisville's Camp Hi Ho heroes. Here's the #JennifersLouisville banner on the Sixth Street side of the Ky Center in #DowntownLou. I’m grateful for this honor and extremely humbled to join this list. (I mean, Muhammad Ali?) Thank you. Go Cards.” From Gary & Karen Lawrence: "The Lawrence family would like to thank everyone involved in this project. We think it is so cool that the
Jennifer’s Louisville
The "Jennifer's Louisville" banner goes up this Saturday on the 6th Street side of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts (visible to eastbound I-64 traffic). Jen's response: ““I feel so lucky to be born and raised a Louisville girl,” said Lawrence. “Louisville gave me a perspective and informed my identity in a beautiful and honest way. I’m grateful for this honor and extremely humbled to join this list. (I mean, Muhammad Ali?) Thank you. Jennifer Lawrence & The Lawrence family: a solid bond
Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native who is Hollywood's top box office draw, was home for the Christmas holidays. She visited Kosair Children's Hospital, lent a hand at Wayside Christian Mission, and cheered for her UofL Cardinals at the KFC Yum Center. Oddly enough, I wound up delivering several outfits to the movie star at the arena when she arrived with her family. The Lawrence family is adored locally for operating Camp Hi Ho, a summer day camp for kids. Jennifer's mom and dad got a big kick out of watching me pretend to be fashion judge as the star decided on which Louisville garb to wear to the arena. MORE PHOTOS HERE EN ESPANOL

Oscars 2014 — Ellen shall lead
Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres broke the record for retweets with the selfie crammed by A-list stars in the audience. It was clearly a product placement tactic, later revealed by Ellen's additional tweets on a rival smartphone device. She received fair reviews of her show performance, although it dragged at times. The Hollywood Reporter totally crushed Ellen's performance. Some in the transgender community were irked by Ellen's joke about Liza Minnelli. Best Supporting Actor Jared Leto, a straight male who played a transgender character, was criticized for not mentioning the transgender community in his acceptance speech. For many viewers, Leto's moving speech was the highlight of the night. Jimmy Kimmel promoted his post Oscars special with a cool TV trick. Leonardo DiCaprio failed to win again,

American Hustle: The one word review: fantastic
TRAILER SOUNDTRACK AMERICAN HUSTLE (R) Grifters Christian Bale & Amy Adams drive this frenetic con game story with Jennifer Lawrence's kept woman character described as the "Picasso of passive aggressive karate." Bradley Cooper is also outstanding as a driven FBI agent hoping to make a make the bigs. Jeremy Renner is an enterprising New Jersey mayor who is sucked into the cyclone of greed. Robert DeNiro's intimidation has never been more riveting. It's a mad, crazy, sad, clever combination of power grabs and money grubbing. Great film. Long form review: NY Daily News
