The One Day Contract has 4,000 more renewals
Rick Pitino has received another contract extension at the University of Louisville, carrying him through 2025. Watch him with his boss Tom Jurich celebrate the moment. Another reason Rick Pitino loves his life in Louisville is because it has allowed him to retain long term local relationships with buddies. Rick has a zillion friends around the world, but living in the same spot for 14 years has taught him the value of rooting in with friends who are down the street or a few miles away. The UofL basketball boosters group Friends of the Ville is loaded with some of the city's top business leaders and a strong contingent of everyday guys working nine to five. It keeps Pitino
The Pain Train – 68 teams enter the arena and 67 leave hurting
As magnificent as the 2014-15 Kentucky Wildcats looked on paper, "The Unbeatables" were beaten by the Wisconsin Badgers. Kentucky fans are in deep despair as are Kentucky retailers and UK's bottom line. But Wisconsin has fans, too. Despite Kentuckians' claims that host city Indianapolis will suffer from the evacuation of the Big Blue Mist, fans of Wisconsin and Duke have disposable income to spread around. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tweeted a few zingers toward teammate and former Wildcat Randall Cobb just before tipoff and early into the game. After the victory, Rodgers tweeted a simple #OnWisconsin. Gametime. #OnWisconsin Long day for @rcobb18 hopefully.— Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) April 5, 2015 .@rcobb18 nervous bro? Final Four Fever is throttling up again as dominating Kentucky is expected to sweep right through for the Wildcats' 9th national championship. “No one will steal my joy” — John Calipari
There will be no loser edit for John Calipari. His reality of success is sealed. Following a flawless regular season of 31 wins without a hiccup, the Kentucky Wildcats have a potential nine games to complete the Path to Perfection. Coach John Calipari has his detractors and does not shy away from calling them out, even at a celebratory moment. Sports Illustrated asked if Kentucky's one-and-done format is killing college basketball. One Kentucky media member claims that Calipari privately revels in the misery of other coaches, most notably the recently admonished Jim Boeheim, a vocal critic of Cal. But most coaches have each others' backs, as Calipari illustrated in 2013 when he appeared at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame during the
Chris Jones, two others arrested on rape and sodomy charges
WDRB 41 Louisville News Former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones has been charged with rape and sodomy alleged by two different women, ages 19 and 20. One of the women is a University of Louisville student and the other is an online student of Western Kentucky University. The alleged incidents occurred late Saturday night in the Cardinal Towne Apartments, a privately run student housing facility. Two other men, Tyvon J. Walker and Jalen Tilford, were also charged with rape. Tilford was also charged with sodomy. All three men pleaded not guilty. Jones' next court appearance is scheduled for March 9. Judge Sheila Collins assigned Jones to home incarceration in lieu of a $25,000 bond. The University of Louisville released a
Rick Pitino on UK, Coach Cal, Cat fans in Yum, comparison to ’96, and whether to continue the rivalry
University of Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino didn't have much to say following his team's latest loss to arch-rival Kentucky, the seventh loss out of eight games since John Calipari arrived in Lexington. He needed a day to decompress and then we chatted about the game on 840WHAS Radio on Monday, December 29. Pitino didn't shy away from talking about Coach Cal, UK's potential, abundant UK fans in the KFC Yum Center, and much more. AUDIO from WHAS Radio TRANSCRIPT Pitino enjoys life away from basketball during the few weeks a year that he's not working but he has no plans to walk away from the game he cherishes. He loves his Louisville Cardinals and still honors his Kentucky coaching years with
Jennifer Lawrence & The Lawrence family: a solid bond
Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native who is Hollywood's top box office draw, was home for the Christmas holidays. She visited Kosair Children's Hospital, lent a hand at Wayside Christian Mission, and cheered for her UofL Cardinals at the KFC Yum Center. Oddly enough, I wound up delivering several outfits to the movie star at the arena when she arrived with her family. The Lawrence family is adored locally for operating Camp Hi Ho, a summer day camp for kids. Jennifer's mom and dad got a big kick out of watching me pretend to be fashion judge as the star decided on which Louisville garb to wear to the arena. MORE PHOTOS HERE EN ESPANOL
Ignore history and you’re doomed to repeat it
Terry Meiners and Matt Jones discussed the apology issued by The Courier-Journal over a crybaby caricature of Kentucky coach John Calipari. The conversation sparked heavy response from fans of both UK and UofL. Enjoy these examples. From: JOSEPH J JR SCHMITT [bluemanjr@bellsouth.net] Sent: Monday, September 22, 2014 6:02 PM To: MEINERS, TERRY A Subject: Some Comments Several minutes ago I heard your conversation with Matt Jones regarding the CJ's apology to John Calipari for the "cry baby" cartoon. I am a proud UK grad, we are a 3 generation UK family, a lot of us know you are a complete UL shill. You were expelled from UK for dorm vandalism, one of your sons enrolled at UK and was heckled on campus, as were you,

The Mt. Rushmore of ACC coaches gathered recently to promote the league's new network and allow Rick Pitino and Jim Boeheim a chance to continue teasing each other. This is going to be fun. Rick Pitino joined me on 84WHAS Radio the day after the ACC promo to discuss his new Cardinals, The Bigs, ACC, Chris Jones' diet, life after Russ, and how a UK graduate mustered up the nerve to ask to marry Rick's daughter.
