Fewer than 1% of homeowners put political signs in their yards because it's no one else's business as to how they vote. That's why media reports about election "polls" are so whacked. The sample size of willing participants is tiny. And usually wrong. Do pollsters get paid or are they producing these elaborate pranks for free? Modern polling is terribly flawed and only advances lazy journalism. A media outlet will only post or broadcast poll results if (a) they have space to fill, (b) there is a shocking change from previous polling, or (c) a media person with the authority to choose whether a "story" merits publication is happily amplifying their own bias. With Kentucky's election just a few weeks away,

It’s not hunting season but Governor Matt Bevin came loaded for bear
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin texted me moments before a planned phone interview today to suggest that he drop by the studio in person. Perfect. A face-to-face interview nearly always produces more in-depth analysis of current events. We opened with inside baseball chatter about Air Force One and President Trump's attention to details. We closed with topics like religion, patriotism, and child rearing. It was those 22 minutes in the middle that were ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ณ ๐ป @GovMattBevin on how @KYGOP spends Trump visit money, throws shade at Crazy Bernie, Lil' Andy, Stumbo, Heather, @KyDems opioid settlement money, looks to 2nd term with @GOP AG @djaycameron ๐๏ธ AUDIO https://t.co/2IRknOjqxi #teachers #religion #patriotism #childrearing pic.twitter.com/zJJJTXcI82— Terry Meiners (@terrymeiners) August 26, 2019 Governor Bevin dismantled his opponent
“What takes guts is to pay your bills” – Gov. Matt Bevin on why sports gambling and marijuana pursuits won’t pay Kentucky’s bills
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin texted: "Are you on air today?" Me: "Yes sir." Gov. Bevin: "Want me to stop by?" Me: "Absolutely" A few minutes later, Governor Bevin strolled into my studio and we launched right into a 23 minute chat on a myriad of topics. Local media immediately jumped on Bevin's sardonic comment about America's "soft" culture where school is called off for cold temperatures. .@GovMattBevin told @terrymeiners that #Kentucky schools closing for cold weather shows 'we're getting softโ but a chorus of teachers and political rivals from both sides of the aisle quickly rebuked those comments: https://t.co/OiglXzwNcx #KYGov— Philmonger (@phillipmbailey) January 30, 2019 This WDRB transcript (below) put Bevin's comment in better context but the audio reveals that Bevin is
My radio chats with the major gubernatorial candidates for 2019
Here are my most recent WHAS Radio interviews with the 2019 candidates for Kentucky governor. This November, incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin will take on the winner of the May primary between Democrat hopefuls Attorney General Andy Beshear, Senate Minority Leader Rocky Adkins, and former Kentucky Auditor Adam Edelen. All candidates are offered the choice of appearing in the radio studio with me or to join me via phone. We start with Governor Bevin on the phone last month. Adam Edelen would like to be Kentucky’s next governor. Here’s what he would say to the current governor on a long car ride.
via WHAS RADIO ๐ป My chat with Kentucky governor hopeful Adam Edelen on how he differs from other Ky Democrats, what he'd say to Gov Matt Bevin on a long car ride, his pension fix, and how two white guys #EdelenHolland2019 can still bring diversity to Kentucky. We also discussed Kentucky jobs in coal, renewable energy, and Edelen's support from prominent Louisvillians. ๐๏ธ #Election2019 #KYpolitics
Gov Matt Bevin on marijuana, sports betting, happy dancing Dems, and why he’s still the best person to be governor in Ky
๐ป Here's Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin on the phone with me. It's our annual year-end summation interview wrapped up with a Christmas message for all. His staff promised me 20 minutes on the phone but the governor got rolling and we went a full half hour. Of course, Matt Bevin was extremely frustrated after this week's aimless special session, plus he sustained a recent unanimous rejection by the Kentucky Supreme Court on the pension issue. What do we learn? He's definitely running for reelection, encourages others to challenge him, takes a hard pass at marijuana & sports betting, and paints attorney general Andy Beshear with dereliction of duty. I also asked who will be the next Lt. Gov, if the
“You bet I’m running” – Gov. Matt Bevin tees up his re-election battle with Andy Beshear, et al
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin finally burst the bubble by declaring that he will indeed run for reelection. I've asked him more than 10 times in radio interviews if he would re-up to solidify Republican party plans for 2019. His response was that he would not let "the people across the aisle" dictate his schedule. At last night's Lincoln Dinner in Lexington, the news spilled across all of the aisles. Governor Bevin wants to stay in office for a second term. "Buckle up, because the next five years are going to be something to watch." At the @KYGOP Lincoln Dinner in Lexington, @GovMattBevin announced his intention to run for re-election in 2019. pic.twitter.com/zqnjGGEufk— Garrett Wymer (@GarrettWKYT) August 26, 2018 There's
Gov. Matt Bevin on KEA: “They’re frauds…they just want mayhem”
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin jumped on the radio with me last night for his monthly interview. It became explosive pretty fast. With a midnight deadline looming, Bevin announced that he had just signed the pension reform bill to stop its financial freefall. Kentucky teachers have been protesting the bill for changes affecting new hires. Bevin said that the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) leadership had been against it but in recent days had been touting it. Bevin taunted the KEA as "frauds" who don't have a real sense of what's best for teachers. (transcripts via Courier Journal) Bevin claims the KEA "just wants mayhem" Replies from the KEA, the Democrat Party, attorney general Andy Beshear, and teachers have been harsh. The AG

Bevin excoriates Beshear over continuing challenges to his administration
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin has had it up to here with Attorney General Andy Beshear. Last week, Bevin directed many state agencies to cut budgets by 17.4%. Beshear claims the governor is breaking the law by replenishing the state's nearly depleted rainy day fund. The governor and attorney general are regular guests on my radio show. It just so happened that today was the governor's scheduled monthly appearance. He was loaded for bear. LISTEN Andy Beshear's next scheduled radio appearance is September 19th at 4:10 PM on 840WHAS. See you then.
